Ruslan Zhaksylykov

He was born in 1966 in the Almaty region.

He graduated in 1987 from the Konev Almaty Higher Combined Arms Command Academy, in 1996 from the Frunze Military Academy, and in 2004 from the Higher Academic Courses of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. 

From 1987 to 2006, he served in various positions from platoon commander to commander of a unit of the Interior Ministry troops of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2006 to 2007, he was Deputy Commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2007 to 2008, he was First Deputy Commander of the Interior Troops – Chief of Staff of the Interior Troops of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Since September 2008, he was the Commander of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Since January 2013, he was the Commander-in-Chief of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2014 to 2021 he was the Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard of the RK.

Since September 2021, he was Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On January 19, 2022, by Decree of the President, he was appointed Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On April 3, 2023 by Decree of the President he was reappointed as Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On February 6, 2024 he was appointed Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
