The sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country was considered at the government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin.

Minister of Healthcare Minister Alexey Tsoy reported that more than 258 million cases of CVI have been registered in the world, more than 400 thousand cases are registered per day. More than 5 million people have died. The incidence continues to rise in the WHO European Region.

The Republic of Kazakhstan and the other 10 regions are located in the green zone. Four regions are in the yellow zone (Karaganda, Kostanay, Akmola and the city of Nur-Sultan). Two regions remain in the red zone (Pavlodar and North Kazakhstan regions). The reproductive number is 0.93.

“In general, in Kazakhstan over the last month, the incidence rate decreased 2.4 times, patients in hospitals — 1.4 times, outpatients — 1.8 times. The employment of infectious beds is 30%, intensive care beds — 25%,” the Minister of Healthcare said.

Vaccination of the population against CVI continues. The first component was received by almost 8.7 million people, the coverage of the subject adult population was 76% or 46% of the population, the second component was received by more than 7.9 million people, covering 70% of the subject population or 42.2% of the population.

As noted by Tsoy, 645 thousand doses of Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine have been delivered to Kazakhstan. To date, 35,012 subjects have been vaccinated, of which 26,354 are children and 8,658 are pregnant and lactating women. Vaccine supplies continue on a weekly basis.

“Vaccination against influenza has practically ended, more than 2 million 500 thousand people or 99.3% of the subject population have been vaccinated. Coverage of the population was 13% and reached the required WHO level (at least 10%). Preventive and anti-epidemic measures to control the incidence of CVI and ARVI continue,” Tsoy summed up.
