When introducing 5G, issues of impact on human health to be taken into account — Askar Zhumagaliyev

At the meeting of the International Telecommunication Union in October 2019 in Egypt, the impact of 5G networks on human health will be analyzed. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Askar Zhumagaliyev during the press conference in the Government.

As Zhumagaliyev informed, the meeting of the International Telecommunication Union will be held in October in Egypt.

“At this international meeting, specific standards will be set. The final approval of the standard is expected in 2021,” the minister said.

Zhumagaliyev also expressed confidence that the issue of influence on human health will be fundamental when determining the 5G technology standard.

“All health issues will be analyzed based on relevant tests. I am sure that the adoption of a standard by the International Telecommunication Union will be based on the elements of health. Because it’s definitely not interesting for anyone to introduce technologies that will then negatively affect health,” said the minister.

In addition, during the press conference, Zhumagaliyev emphasized the importance of introducing 5G to digitalize the economy of Kazakhstan.

“This is a very important issue. This is the technology that will solve all the technological issues that are on the agenda today,” the minister said.

5G technologies will provide high bandwidth compared to 4G technologies, which will ensure greater availability of broadband mobile communications, use device-to-device modes, ultra-reliable large-scale communication systems between devices, as well as a shorter delay time, Internet speed from 1-2 Gbps/s, lower battery consumption than 4G equipment, which will positively affect the development of the Internet of things.

For reference: 5G is the fifth generation of mobile communications, operating on the basis of telecommunication standards that follow the existing 4G standards.

Note that in the world there is an already established tendency to represent a new generation of cellular communications 10 years after the introduction of the older one. Therefore, the first generation of mobile networks appeared in the early 1980s. After 10 years, the world introduced improved technology — 2G. In the early 2000s, users got access to 3G high-speed Internet, and the latest generation of high-speed Internet was introduced in 2009. And after 10 years, the world will gain access to completely new 5G technologies.
