Prime Minister Askar Mamin holds meeting on sanitary and epidemiological situation in Mangystau region

Prime Minister Askar Mamin, during a working trip to Mangystau region, visited a modular infectious diseases hospital and held a meeting on sanitary and epidemiological situation in the region.

Akim of Mangystau region Serikbay Trumov and Minister of Healthcare Alexey Tsoy reported that from Oct. 25 to 31, 2020, morbidity in the region increased 1.6 times, the reproductive number reached 0.9. Nov. 1, 2020, 2 cases were registered, from Nov. 2 to 6, no cases were recorded.

The workload of infectious beds is 17%, resuscitation beds - 10%. The highest incidence rates are observed in the cities of Aktau and Zhanaozen.

There are 9 infectious diseases hospitals with 335 infectious and 48 intensive care beds in the region. Additionally, 11 reserve hospitals with 1,835 infectious and 130 intensive care beds were equipped. Medical institutions are provided with 260 ventilators and 638 oxygen concentrators. 14 hospitals have centralized oxygen supply.

To replenish the stabilization fund, 450 million tenge was allocated from the local budget, which made it possible to form a two-month supply of medicines in medical institutions and the pharmacy network of the region. The fleet of ambulances has been replenished by 82 units, and an additional 34 vehicles are expected to be delivered by the end of the year.

In the Mangystau region, there are 6 laboratories for the diagnosis of COVID-19, as well as a mobile station for PCR testing. The total testing capacity is 4,300 tests per day. Currently, over 1,300 PCR tests are performed per day.

24 monitoring groups since August this year conducted 1,428 raids, revealed 126 violations at the facilities.

The head of government instructed the akimat of Mangystau region to carry out a full range of preparatory measures for a possible new wave of coronavirus infection, including:

  • to strengthen the work of monitoring groups to monitor compliance with sanitary requirements by the population and business entities;
  • to strengthen the provision of primary health care, first of all, to pay attention to people with chronic diseases, people over 65 and pregnant women;
  • to ensure the availability of reserve infectious sites in case of a further increase in morbidity;
  • to ensure uninterrupted supplies of medicines and medical products to hospitals from the region's stabilization fund.

The prime minister examined a modular infectious diseases hospital with 200 beds built in Aktau, ambulances and mobile medical complexes of domestic assembly delivered to the region.
